How the Time Card Calculator works
Each populated day is calculated as one Work Shift. The calculator finds Gross Shift Duration, subtracts one Break Deduction, and then adds every day's Net Work Time. Empty days are ignored.
Regular Time is the weekly Net Work Time up to the threshold. Overtime Time is only the portion above that threshold. The threshold is a calculation policy you control, not a payroll or legal conclusion.
Example you can reproduce
Enter 9:00 to 18:00 with a 30-minute break on Monday through Friday. The weekly total is 42 hours 30 minutes: 40 regular hours and 2 hours 30 minutes above a 40-hour threshold.
Limits and assumptions
- At most one shift and one total break deduction per day.
- Overnight shifts require an explicit Ends next day selection.
- No hourly rates, wages, taxes, holiday rules, or employee records. Decimal hours are an approximate two-decimal presentation; hour-and-minute and total-minute results stay exact.
- The calculation uses displayed clock values and does not apply timezone or daylight-saving rules.
Frequently asked questions
Is overtime pay calculated?
No. The calculator only partitions time above a user-selected weekly threshold. Pay rules vary by contract and jurisdiction.
What if a shift crosses midnight?
Select Ends next day for that row. Exactly 24 hours is added before the start, end, and break are calculated.
Is my time card uploaded?
No. The entries are calculated locally and are not saved or added to the URL.
